How Falun Dafa is helping school kids across India
Falun Dafa, a system of gentle exercises and meditation, is becoming popular in various schools in India. Falun Dafa’s association with schools in India goes back to the year 2000, when it was first introduced in a school in Bangalore. Since then, it has been introduced in hundreds of schools across India.
While students enjoy the exercises, teachers vouch for improvement in behaviour and academic results of students. The schools also appreciate that the practice is not related to any religion and is taught completely free of charge.
Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is an ancient spiritual practice of mind and body. Introduced to public in 1992 by Mr Li Hongzhi in China, today Falun Dafa is being practiced in more than 100 countries around the world including India. Falun Dafa includes five gentle and effective exercises that help purify one's body, relieve stress and provide inner peace.
When Ratnaprabha, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Mumbai was visiting her son in Delhi, she discovered there was a government-run Nagar Nigam Primary school close to their house at Karol Baug. She approached the principal of the school and was given permission to teach the Falun Dafa exercises. Ratnaprabha visited the school for five days and she was so happy to see the children pick up the exercises fast and enjoying themselves. The principal also joined in learning the exercise sessions.
Falun Dafa practitioner from Nagpur, Dr. Gedam and his wife decided to visit some schools during Teacher’s Day on 5th September.
Success Point School, invited them to demonstrate the exercises and introduce Falun Dafa on the afternoon of September 6 at the high school. Students and teachers learned the Falun Dafa exercises. The teachers said that they could feel the energy and were amazed to see the children calm down so fast when they began to meditate. The teachers were also surprised that there was no fee and everything was offered for free, which they said is rare these days.
At another school that Dr. Gedam and his wife visited, two sessions were held as the playground could not accommodate all the students at one time. Some students said that during the meditation they felt they were in another world. The teachers were so impressed that they asked if they could have another session for the teachers to learn the exercises.
Sudhir Garg, a retired Indian Oil employee and Falun Dafa practitioner from Bhopal, conducted Falun Dafa sessions at various Navodaya schools in Bhopal, Ratlam and Sehore. Each session was attended hundreds of students and teachers and all five exercises of Falun Dafa were demonstrated. School principals and teachers appreciated the efforts of Mr Garg.
Falun Dafa has been introduced to many schools in and around Leh, Laddakh. The schools include large and small ones, the smallest having only 17 children, and the largest thousands. Children showed great interest in learning the exercises.
Indian Falun Dafa practitioners have been selflessly introducing this unique practice across length and breadth of the country. The practice is helping students get good health, calm their minds and get good academic results.
